General Engineer Usage
Mastering your heroes and castles engineer is all about the controls. Because you have slow movement and relatively slow attack. It is all about executing your runs perfectly to deal the maximum amount of damage while staying alive. The engineer has different skills to boost the defense of your castles.
Heroes and Castles Engineer Stats
The stats that are useful for the engineer include either the damage or critical. The weak part about the engineer is their low attack speed. However, the strength comes in the engineer’s critical attacks which can deal damage to multiple enemies in an AoE area effect.
Based on this, you really have a choice between boosting its damage or critical %. In our opinion it is better to add stats into the critical attack for additional AoE hits.
Heroes and Castle Engineer Skills
Like the other Heroes and Castles classes, the engineer has 3 active skills and 3 passive skills. We will go over each of them and help you determine the best skills to use and have for your engineer.
Active Skills
Crack Shot: This skill does unpredictable damage against the enemies, however, the cool down of this skill is really way to long for it to be effective. The damage of this skill is pretty unattractive as well.
Fortify: Helps your buildings to take no damage for a short period of time. In most cases, you really do not need to use this skill against the enemies. If you really have to rely on this skill to survive against the incoming attacks, the chances are that you will die fairly fast once the skill wears off.
Artillery: It instantly summons a catapult to the battlefield. Yet another useless skill that summons catapults that are quickly destroyed by the enemies on the field.
Passive Skills
Salvage: Each enemy killed has a chance to give you an extra 5 gold. This is an extremely important skill to help you build and refill your units fast. Everything you build that can kill enemies will be able to help you regenerate back the gold. Max the Engineer salvage skill as soon as you can.
Craftsman: Decreases the cost of walls and towers. Every level helps you to lower your gold cost. When combined with salvage, you can build ballista towers to kill enemies fast while getting back someofthose gold.
Brotherhood: Boost the power of your dwarf units on the battlefield.
Heroes and Castles Engineer Builds
Based on the utility of engineer’s active skills. We recommend you to go with the following skill and stats build. The critical % increase at higher levels along with damage rune can be quite powerful. With high critical rate, you can instantly kill many of the enemies together. You would still need to rely on your ballista tower to take out the higher HP enemies so boosting damage is not that helpful.
Salvage: Max
Craftsman: Max
Brotherhood: 1 point
Rest of the points go into critical %.
Optional: Fortify
Heroes and Castles Strategies for Engineer
Always start the stage by adding 1 additional gold mine. Then based on your killing speed and enemies spawn rate, consider going for even 2~3 gold mines.
After this setup you can now go for either 1 of these setups.
Long Raged Attacking Setup
While using this strategy, always make sure that your wall is safe. If your wall falls, all of your ranged units die and you lose all those investment associated with the rifleman and longbeard.
Rifleman x 6
Darwan Hut
Longbeard
Captain’s Tent
Ballista
Dreadnought
Maximum Tower Setup
Get the best -building cost rune that you can find. There is a -20% building cost legendary rune that can make your towers almost dirt cheap. The extra towers can take some minor pressure off your wall while dealing damage. The towers can almost pay for themselves along with Salvage skill. However, this setup is weak towards the end of the endless mode because towers get destroyed way too fast.
Setup Wall
Ballista Tower x 4
Keep on refilling your ballista tower
Best Heroes and Castles Runes for Engineer
Damage Legendary Rune
This is one of the best rune to have for all of the heroes. The damage rune works extremely well with our recommended critical build. You can most or less one shot kill many of the lower level skeletons or ghouls at level 25+. Along with the critical attacks you can take down significant numbers of enemies simply by yourself. This in turn will save your cost of wall repair gold and help you earn gold even faster. Farm as much as you can until you can get the damage rune.
Gold and Gold rune
This is one of the best combination of the rune that you can have especially in endless mode. Having duo gold income rune is like have 2 additional gold mines that keep on generating more gold for you. With the gold rune, you can refill your gold mines as they are destroyed and refill your lost units even faster.
Minus Building Cost
The beauty of this rune is that it decreases your tower cost as well as the cost of gold mines. This can in term boost your rebuild rate and the efficiency of your starting gold mines.
