Fusion Basics

Like most of the other card games, you level up your base cards by feeding it other feeders. The fusion and level up can be quite expensive. Half of the game will be to managing your Zel and card inventory so that you can wait for the right moment to fuse the right cards. If you are planning to level xp grind your characters, we have created a nifty Brave Frontier fusion calculator tool to help you.

The cost of fusion is (Starting Base Monster Level + 1) * Number of Monsters to Fuse * 100.

Bonus Experience Points from same element
Your fusions can earn an additional 50% exp if you use the cards of the matching element. So when you are doing BB leveling, it is almost always the best to use a card of a different element, to keep the XP earned down. So that you can pump more cards into a character without leveling it up too much.

Fuse Success Bonus
The fusing success bonus is purely based on luck, however there are some events that grant higher success rate boost. There are two kinds of success Exp boosts.

Great Success fusion gives an additional 50% boost EXP for 150% total.
Super Success fusion grants an additional 100% boost experience for 200% total.

Level Capping
To conserve your Zel especially at the beginning of the game, always fuse a little bit so that your units at near leveling, then bomb all the units in at the same time so that all 5 units enjoy the cost of lower level fusing. You can check EXP for your characters by holding down the tap on the monster icon.

Metal God Bombing Fuse Guide
This leveling guide works well for units that have just evolved and you do not plan to do intensive BB leveling with it. Save up 5 Metal Gods and fuse bomb into a unit at level 1 can gain a ton of initial levels at fraction of the cost.

Best Way to Level Up Fusion Units

The best way to gain the fast leveling up fusion material units is through “metal” units. In a nutshell, you can obtain metal parade EXP keys via Imperial Capital Randall -> Akras Summoners’ Hall -> Administration Office.

You can obtain three types of fusion units to help you with Brave Frontier character leveling. Below is a list with the base EXP. Note that because they are dark element, you can get additional EXP bonus if you fuse them with dark type characters. The fusion list is as followed:

Metal Ghost = 1,506 exp
Metal King = 16,518 exp
Metal God = 51,518 exp

Tier Fusion

This cost effective fusion method is the best when you have a mid level base character with a bunch of low level feeders. In general, feeding the cards to your main base can be too costly. Tier fusing is done when you fuse 5 cards into a feeder first, then feed that buffed feeder into your main card.

You will lose about 45% of the EXP when you do exp transfer via tier fusing. However, you will be able to fuse the EXP into the card at nearly 1/4~1/5 of the cost. You generally DO NOT want to use this method with any metal leveling units as they carry a decent amount of EXP to begin with.

To really save money with tier fusion, use a level 1 card as your mid level feeder to minimize that initial exp transfer.

Now, if you are lucky enough to get either a Great Success or Super Success, you will then not lose any EXP. In fact you may actually get more EXP if you obtain two Super Successes in a row!

Tiered Fusion – Elemental Consideration
Now, there are times that you may want to focus leveling of one specific character. This is when tier might work in your favor. Use the semi-feeder that matches your main card’s element to absorb non-matching elemental cards. However, if you have enough Zel in your bank reserve, do not use Tier Fusion as you are really giving up potential EXP in exchange to conserve zel.

Brave Burst Leveling Consideration

In a nutshell, Brave Bursts are leveled up during fusion if you use the BB skill units of the same type. For more information, please check our guide to Brave Frontier BB leveling.

The leveling of Brave Burst is extremely important and need to be done indefinitely when your units are still lower level. This is especially true when the unit is at max evolution. By leveling up the BB level before you start going for max level can save you a ton of Zel.

It should note that the BB leveling cost is reduced when you reach the max level. So it may be smart to start training BB’s once you do hit the max.

Evolution Basics

You generally want to evolve your characters as soon as they hit max, so that you can continue to build them up with much higher stats, hits, and BB skills.

How to evolve guide: Brave Frontier evolution has a couple requirements. The character must be at max level, the character must have a form that they can evolve into, and lastly you need to have the required materials to evolve them. The higher level evolution can cost a ton of Zel so your best shot to start saving them early and participate with golden vault dungeons and use all the ways to make more Zel in Brave Frontier.

In general, most of the base character cards have 1~2 evolution forms with a couple cards having more evolution stages such as your starter cards.

When you evolve a character, the Brave Frontier BB Level is dropped to half and rounded down.

Choosing Best Units to Evolve

Before you decide on which characters to max fuse and further Brave Frontier evolve them. Decide how to evolve first by always looking at their max evolution potentials. The best units to evolve are units that have 5* or 6* evolution possibility. And even then, if you have more than 5* star choices to evolve, pick out the ones with the best type for that given set of units.

Brave Frontier Evolution Strategy Timing

For the Brave Frontier Evolution guide, You typically want to only evolve one character card on your team at a time. There are a couple reason to this, you want to only evolve 1 character so that your team can still function with a weakened single member. This way you can still evolution farm for other materials, participate in dungeons, while training back your character.

If you evolve too many units on your team, you will basically have a really weak team that cannot do much for a long time until you train them back to the level. You also want to avoid doing evolution unit farming too early, because then you would be stuck with a bunch of evolution materials that take away from your unit inventory spaces.

Evolution Ingredient Preparation

With the inventory spaces so tight for your Brave Frontier game, your best bet is to usually hold off on collecting all the evolution materials until you have reached the max level for your character. The main reason is that you may come across a better character card more suitable on your team, and you should not evolve too many character at the same time referring back to our previous point.

If you collect too many evolution material, you will find that you will have a ton of them, and without proper spaces for the regular members of your team.
