Getting research done whenever you can is one of the most important task in the game. In general, your goal is to make and generate enough coins and embers so that you can unlock additional research. The more coins and ember that you make, the less time that you wait for those to get recharged. We will first go over the basic overview of each of these research, then we will provide a table with detailed information such as effect, waiting time, and cost of the research. Lastly, we will provide a road map to help you proceed with your research path.

After this beginning setup, all of the research time frame take a long time. Always focus on researching the class tech for the classes that you are using first. Then max on coin scavenger and ember baron, then move on to their storage units. Once you have them maxed out, move to leadership to rinse and repeat.

Commander Research

Leadership: Prerequisite to your other research and let you level up your heroes further. They also let you unlock additional squad slot to have more heroes.
Coin Vault: Increase your coin capacity
Coin Scavenger: Gain additional coins through dungeon exploration.
Ember Vault: Increase ember capacity.
Ember Baron: Increase ember production rate and temporary storage capacity.
Energy Cap: Increase your energy capacity.
Mana Cap: Increase mana capacity.
Energy Rate: Reduce energy recharge time.
Trading: Unlock additional items in the shop.

Classes Research

Class Rank: Raises the level cap of your heroes.
Class Attribute: Increase your unit’s attributes by 1%
Class Ability: Unlock, improve, and master the base abilities.

Artifacts Research

Treasure Map: This is tied to the story line dungeons to allow you to unlock additional maps.
Resource Cache: Research time can vary depending on the type of resource cache. The time ranges from 30 minutes all the way to 3 hours. The more time it takes, the more resources that you will receive. Possible rewards are coins, embers, healing potions or resurrection scrolls.
Ancestral Knowledge: Longer research times but with possible rewards are silver runes, premium runes or diamonds. The Ancestral Knowledge tomes are ranked by their colors from rare to common Red -> Orange -> Yellow -> Green -> Light Blue -> Dark Blue.

Honorbound Research Basic

You research the different “techs” by using scholars. The first scholar you will get for free, however you will have to unlock additional scholars if you want to have more research going at the same time. As you can see from the chart below that the scholars will cost quite a bit of gold so you should save up to unlock them all.

Researches at different levels will take different amount of time. Your best bet is to unlock all of them as your priority in diamond spending.

1 Scholar: Free
2 Scholar: 50 Diamonds
3 Scholar: 500 Diamonds
4 Scholar: 1000 Diamonds
5 Scholar: 1500 Diamonds

You can also speed up the research by paying some diamonds. However you should never do so as there are better ways to spend them. You can speed up the last 5 minutes of research for free.

How to Progress in Research

Always train Class Ranks so that you can break through the level cap of the heroes that you are using. We recommend starting with Warrior as you would benefit more from a damage dealing class during early parts of the game. You can also upgrade rogues to help you gather more coins.

Research your leader ship to level 3 so that they can unlock additional slots as well as evolution ritual.

Research Ember Baron to level 3 to improve your ember production rate.

Research Coin Scavenger to level 4.

Research Coin and Ember Vault to level 4.

Leadership to level 4.

Research Coin Scavenger and Ember Baron both to level 5.

Research Leadership to level 5.

Research Ritual to level 3

You can now start to research into Class Attributes, like the rank, always research the ones as they can really boost the power of your underlings.

Always max out the class attributes research for the hero class that you are using. As they really grant you free and instant stats that will help you progress faster through the dungeons.
