There are epic bosses hidden in the game of Marvel Avengers Alliance. Below is a guide on how to unlock these hidden epic bosses and strategies on how to defeat them. If you have found this guide useful or helpful, please check out our other guides for Marvel Avengers Alliance. I will now also include some notes for the Special Ops Epic bosses as they become available.
How to Unlock MAA Epic Boss
To unlock the epic bosses in the specific missions, you will need to complete the following tasks:
Complete all threats – including the final bosses
Deploy the heroes as requested.
After you have completed these tasks, do not exit the map after defeating the final mission boss. The hidden Marvel Avengers Alliance epic boss should appear.
Unlocking Marvel Avengers Alliance Epic Boss List
Chapter 2-3: Elektra (deploy Black Cat)

Chapter 3-5: Dr. Doom (deploy Spiderman)
Epic Drop: The Doombringer – Debuff an enemy and raise your agents stats
Chapter 4-4: Magneto (deploy Storm)
Epic Drop: Magnetic Field Generator – creates shields and when the shields are removed the ally gains an extra turn. This is one of the best equipment in Marvel Avengers Alliance, so you should definitely make note to farm and obtain the Magnetic Field Generator.
Chapter 5-3: Loki (deploy Wolverine)
Epic Drop: Norn Stone – Increase all the agents’s stats
Chapter 6-3: Doctor Octopus (deploy Luke Cage)
Epic Drop: Electrostatic Arm – Attacks will also shock enemies; enemies with negative charge receive extra damage
Chapter 7-3: Green Goblin (deploy Spider-man)
Epic Drop: Goblin Glider – Stealth do not trigger counter, deal extra damage to flying units, and extra damage on critical attack.
Chapter 8-5: The Hood (deploy Tactician, a Blaster and Hawkeye)
Special Note: Need Spider-Woman to start battle, but can switch her off at hero selection. (However, this has been patched and not possible at later versions).
Epic Drop: Possessed Pistol – Devastates defense and evasion.

Easier Epic Boss Trick
The Epic Boss’ Difficulty is determined by the mastery points that you have achieved in game. By having a high mastery in the mission scenario, the epic boss’ attack power and strength will be significantly higher than its lower mastery counterparts. What you can do is to abort the mission scene after you defeat the final boss. This will make your life easier when you are trying to farm the epic loots dropped by the hidden MAA epic boss.
CP Farming Method
It should be noted that Marvel Avengers Alliance epic bosses are the best way to farm for command points in game. The basic idea is the critical hits against epic boss fights have higher chance of looting and dropping command points for you.
Special Ops Epic Boss Notes
Because of the time limitation and unstable ISO-8 spending nature for the special ops, it should be noted that just like regular epic bosses, you will have to complete all of the threats before you can unlock the epic bosses. However, the requirement of unstable ISO-8 makes it harder to achieve so. You should make your own judgement as whether or not you want to go for the epic bosses or try to obtain higher level of MAA mastery points possible per unstable ISO-8 spent.
Strategy Tips to Defeat and Beat Epic Bosses
Chapter 2-3 Electra:
The Epic boss Elektra will be teamed up by 2 Scrappers. Avoid using Infiltrators in your Marvel Avengers Alliance team when you are facing Elektra. A good Bruiser with good HP count will help a lot in this battle due to Elektra’s Counter attack ability. Otherwise, it’s pretty straightforward.
Chapter 3-5 Dr. Doom:
You will face 3 doombots in this MAA Epic boss battle. The strategy for them is pretty simple: focus all of your attacks on a single doombot to destroy it. This is because the doombot has a special ability to sacrifice itself and heal other doombots. Therefore, by fully destroying a single epic boss doombot, you will not let it heal others. Or the healing done by the almost dead doombot will be very limited.
Chapter 4-4 Magneto:
It is a little tricky to defeat the Epic Boss Magneto. The MAA Magneto attacks can convert target’s attacks into either positive or negative charge. Magneto will then defend himself with either Positron Shield with positive charge or Electron Shield with Negative Charge. Your attacks can only pass through the shield when it is opposite of the shield. This means that your MAA positive charge attacks can pass through Electron Shield and negative charge attacks can pass through Positron shield. However, status effects such as poison and items can prove to work well against Magneto because his shield defense can be hard to beat.
Chapter 5-3 Loki:
The epic boss Loki comes in 3 waves. The second one is the hardest such that you will have to find the real Loki. This guide will explain some of the methods that you can use to easily defeat Marvel Avengers Alliance Loki.
Chapter 6-3 Doctor Octopus:
Doc Ock is a straight forward and easy battle for an Epic Boss in Marvel Avengers Alliance. The only unusual attack that you need to watch out for is that he transfers a “hot potato” ISO virus at you. This attack boosts his companions once in a while. The Doctor Octopus virus can be sent back by attacking so it’s pretty simple to get rid of. You can deal alot of damage with the ISO virus right before its expiration.
Chapter 7-3 Green Goblin:
Green Goblin is alone and is a Scrapper. This combination makes him reasonably easy to defeat with Bruisers. Use a couple of Bruisers and you should be able to make short work of Green Goblin. The green Goblin is one of the easiest Marvel Avengers Alliance Epic Boss to kill.
Chapter 8-5 The Hood:
This difficult Marvel Avengers Alliance epic boss battle contain three waves. Each of these levels will have The Hood being the battle leader in all of the waves.
Wave 1: The Hood (Infiltrator), Hydro-man (Bruiser), Crimson Cowl (Infiltrator)
Wave 2: The Hood (Infiltrator), Madame Masque (Tactician), Constrictor (Tactician)
Wave 3: The Hood (Infiltrator), Jack O’Lantern (Blaster), Grey Gargoyle (Scrapper)
Combat strategies: Because The Hood the infiltrator is fighting in all of the three waves, you should swap out Spider-Woman for the strongest Scrapper that you have. Some good choices of scrapper to use in this epic boss battle include Iron Fist or Daredevil.
Avoid using blasters in your team setup because the second wave of Tacticians will destroy your blaster. The third wave is the hardest with nasty debuffs which need to be dealt with quickly. The bosses in this epic opponent battle are all immune to stun.
Based on these, the best team setup is Scrapper + Supportive Tactician for this epic boss battle. Instead of Tactician you can also use a strong Bruiser as tank, however you can be rendered weak against the Jack O’Lantern in the final wave.
Finally, it should be noted that this level grants you alot of experience points for losing the battle. Thus, once you have achieve the 5 star mastery with this chapter, consider using our Marvel Avengers Alliance CP farming method, except for here you can farm both the EXP and CP at the same time for losing, which is 1 stone two bird.
Chapter 9-4 M.O.D.O.K:
Because M.O.D.O.K is a blaster, it is best for you to use a Tactician team to take him out easily. Some good combos include Emmo Frost and Iron Man.
Update: 11/17/12. We have included the epic boss information for Chapter 9.

Well Luring or finding elektra was NO suc6 i deployed black cat as stated but only bullseye appeared in front of me. i saw doom once..and said indeed epic boss.. didnt got much of a award through..standard stuff. i always miss the right choices.
omfg…she DID apear after 10 seconds~~~~!!
haha! you’re epic man.
made my day
you also need to deploy 1 scrapper and Any hero to unlock elektra
why doesnt my epic boss come out after i have gotten 5 stars for the map.
you do not have to get 5 stars for the map. U can unlock her without any stars also, just clear all the other fights and deploy missions (other than boss).
Well once you find them, your screwed
How come i ALWAYS choose the WRONG items? i dont have ANY epic or boss items
just simply napalm, iso fragments, command points, but 0 weapons or gadgets.
you are unlucky man (like me). haha
I have a great suggestion for you guys .. Instead of defeating the Epic Boss battle, try to get lose to it .. Like for Elektra, choose only your agent and the Team-Up Hero (Daredevil in this battle) .. And try the following:
1. If your agent’s turn just recharge even though it is full
2. If your Daredevil’s turn, put the Radar Sense ability and just use Billy Club on Elektra ONLY .. Do not hit the Billy Club on the ninjas for Radar Sense will take effect if it hits him ..
3. Keep using Billy Club but only use the Radar Sense once to avoid winning.
4. If a command point finally appears, use Recharge to Daredevil as well ..
5. Keep using Recharge until you lose ..
IT WORKS !! When I got Black Cat, and use this method, I got 6 more Heroes in less than a 3 weeks .. And so far, I got 30 Command Points and counting ..
The advantage of using this method:
1. You will have a 90% chance of getting a Command Point
The disadvantage of using this method:
1. You must always lose and therefore, you can’t leave that mission ..
COMMENT OR REPLY IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS
This method is so effective for CP Farming that you can get up to 24 CP per day .. If you log-in every 6 hours … It’s a ratio of One battle is to 1 CP ..
with all do respect
my friend gets ~90 cp per dday
and i get 55~ish and thats without farming
and also i lvl up
there are other better way of farming CPs than this. ^_^
Go to chapter 1 mission 3
Boss: Baron Zemo
Equip any weapon with 4 hits and low damage then hit Baron Zemo with your agent only. Baron Zemo has a skill in which he can heal his self after attacking you. I don’t remember the name of that skill. Keep on hitting him until he drops CP. Don’t hit him if his health is lower than your maximum damage because you need to avoid killing him and once you obtain the CP then let him kill your team and do this the same procedure again.
note: weapon with 4 hits and critical hit ^_^
which weapons got 4 hits?
P.E.W. “Zealous” or S.A. “Ambush” 4hits w/critical option.
were can u find the 4Th weapon that flashes on the new improvements of the special ops.?
i hav a query… i completed 30 stars in a chap but still i didnt get the chapter mastery reward????
y is tht soooooo????????
hi
You have to complete the Premium chapter as well in order to get the mastery reward.
lol I just saw all those and i lol’d, who cares about command points, i have tones of those and no idea what to do with them, all i need are tones of silvers and energy xD
Hammerhead from the special op is missing, how can I defeat him?
like a boss bishhhhhh
When you say “epic drop”, does it mean that the epic boss drops the item in the middle of the battle whenever you hit him? Or you win it in the automated slot machine randomer at the end of every game?
When you say “deploy “, does it mean you win the item at the end of the deployment of the character?
Thanks!
)
epic drop means the random pick after finishing the battle with the epic boss. You have to deploy certain character in order to unlock the epic boss
@Oren:
Epic Drop: yes, they mean the random slot machine at the end
Deploy: no, there’s a deployment on the map that requires that character; you must complete all battles and deploys to advance to the Epic Boss.
i want the nornstone u have written it is in 5-3 loki but in 5-3 the main boss wrecker ???????
When you defeat Wrecker, don’t exit the map. Defeat every threat, deploy every hero for deploys, and when everything is cleared, the epic boss will spawn.
a new epic boss chapter 8 mission 5 very very hard
i farm the chapter 8 epic boss for cp, and if we lose, we get 187 xp.
i wdid it for 5 cp and then defeated the epic boss, i got 714 xP!. EPic boss reawrd 10 cp !!. I have 80 cp now and i will wait for hulk’s alternate uniform to be upgraded cuase i need a scarrper and wolvie is not that good. I have thor already.
got 215cp and all heroes! no more things to do!just got lvl 300 this morning!
i know the real heroes to defeat the hood
1.wolverine at least level 6+
2.spiderman at least level 6+
3.agent suit bruiser if you have (mechanical mjolnir found in chp8 premium)
if not use scrapper
thats it
I’m a little confused on your explanation on “Easier Epic Boss Trick”. How can you obtain the epic boss loot drop without facing him. you said to abort the mission scene after you defeat the final boss right?
ChrisM,
This is very simple. Ill explain this step by step:
1. Say you have unlocked Chapter 4-4 Magneto (storm deployed).
2. Fight and kill Epic boss Magneto. (to farm Magnetic Field Generator )
3. After the roulette, you were left with more neurostim. (at which point you want to break the keyboard)
4. You will then be brought back to the map with the arrow (EXIT MAP). Just like the one that appeared after you defeated the boss AND before you were going to face the Epic boss.
5. DO NOT CLICK ON THE EXIT MAP.
6. Go to your Flight Deck. Bottom right, click on Missions. (DO NOT RESUME)
7. Choose a different mission that the one you are already in.
8. A warning pops up “Are you sure to abort mission xx? All progress will be lost”
9. Click yes!!!! Voila, a moment of clarity of what the author meant.
10. If you are wondering why or how does it make life easier read below.
11. When you 5 starred a chapter (after receiving your bucket of 5 command point,) you can no longer 1-shot your missions. When you replay your 5-starred missions, you will be facing MUCH harder enemies (it is tuned to the same diffculty level as recommended for your current agent level.)
12. So if you can one-shot your way through the missions, you will obviously have an easier time to “farm” your epic weapon of choice (provided you are not hungry for the command points OR the excelsior weapon). So, no 5 star mission = easier farming.
so this is only when you haven’t 5 starred a map yet. in my case I have 5 starred from map 1-7 except map 8 which is new. so I guess it is just a matter of luck for me if I want to get the epic weapon from the epic boss.
this doesnt make sense cuse i didnt deploy black cat nor do i have her and i stll got electra randomley?
Are you sure you are on the correct chapter?
Read again:
Chapter 2-3: Elektra (deploy Black Cat)
Epic Drop: Grecian Sai – counter and bleed effect
Chapter 2-3
Elektra will appear in later chapter as a NON EPIC BOSS.
For the lowbie CP farming technique, you need to deploy Black Cat in her mission to ensure ALL fights and missions are completed including the boss. If all the “blue, yellow, red and green icon” missions are completed, wait a moment DO NOT CLICK ON THE “EXIT MAP” icon. The epic boss mission will show up. Again, please check if you are on the CORRECT CHAPTER.
yea your right, you dont deploy black cat. you deploy daredevil
I have heard there is an Epic boss on 8-5 is it true?
Its on 8-5 and consists of 3 waves of enemies:
Wave 1: Hydro-Man, The Hood, Crimson Cowl
Wave 2: Madame Masque, The Hood, Constrictor
Wave 3: Grey Gargoyle, The Hood, Jack O Lantern
epic drop:
possessed pistol
single target
lvl 82
effect: Possessed (2 turns)
devestates defense and evasion
All correct above. The deploy is Hawkeye (and 2 Any, 1 Blaster, 1 Tactician)
how to defeat this epic boss?
so hard…
which heroes i should use??
i defeated mine easily… i just got the possessed pistol, my team was colossus with steel fortress, spiderman for the wave two tacticians and my agent is scrapper. and there is a huge exp bonus if you finish it.
There is also an epic boss in Chapter 8-5:The Hood. It is a 3 wave fight and very challenging. You don’t need to deploy specific hero just Hawkeye as I remember correctly and its epic boss reward is also pretty good but I couldn’t get it
to the admin…
i’ve just finished MAA chapter 8.5… surprisingly the epic boss appears right after my last fight… you can view it on my facebook photo page
and its dropped item is
hope i’ve help you in my own little way…
