How does Evolution Work | Honorbound
Evolving in Honorbound is very important especially at mid to end game where you are trying to build a strong hero. When you are starting in the game, it is easier to have a starting team without thinking too much about evolution since you really only need a semi decent team to push through the initial dungeons.
In this guide, we will go over some key points when evolving your other heroes to make sure that you do not waste your resources on necessary upgrades and help you obtain stronger evolution.

How to Evolve for Optimize Stats
Evolution and Stars
The different stars for any given hero means When you evolve your heroes, the higher star number will count as the base. For example, if you evolve 1 star and 1 star, your end evolution result is a two star hero. If you evolve a two star with either 1 or 2 star, your end result is three star.
What this means is that if your goal is to evolve to four star quickly using the least number of heroes. Keep on evolving 1 such as 1 star + 1 star -> 2 star, then use that 2 star + 1 star for a three star, then finalize it with three star + 1 star = four star.
This method is efficient when you are building out your first team to get to a four star hero quickly. However, towards mid game you will need a better method to maximize your stats for the heroes.
Evolution and Stats
You evolve your heroes to obtain stats carried over from previous evolution. The percentage of the stats carried over is 5%. It is rumored or a planned update in the future may transfer 10% of the stats when the hero is at level 100, however it is not implemented yet.
Only the base stats which are obtained through leveling are transferred over in evolution. This means that Attribute rank ups or equipped items DO NOT affect the evolution results. The only stats that can affect evolution are the ones that are gained through leveling up of your heroes.
How to Evolve for Optimize Stats
Dumb Way
Based on experience, the dumbest way and strongest way to evolve the strongest hero is to train 16 heroes at 1 star, level to all of them to level 100 at each step. For example,
Evo 1 * Evo 1 = Evo 2
Evo 2 * Evo 2 = Evo 3
Evo 3 * Evo 3 = Evo 4
Although this is the easiest way without thinking, it is extremely time consuming and not worthwhile. If it takes roughly 1 week to level 1 hero to level 100, it will effectively take you 16 weeks just to get 1 hero to ultimate max. By the time you pull it off, the developers may have already released new heroes that can beat your design.
Optimized Evolution
Because of how the base stats are designed. The optimized way to evolve is to simply to max the last stage of the evolution. This means evolving two level 100 3 stars evolution to 4 star evolution. You do not have to worry about anything before three star. Now if you want slightly higher stars, you can start leveling with 2 star evolution as well.
Do not start your unit making with 1 stars as the percentage boost at that low evolution do not really make much difference for your investment.
