Below are the basic concepts that you should apply to have a winning strategy in RAD Soldiers. Although these tips are quick and basic, your best way to learn how to win in RAD Soldiers is through practicing and observing better players. This is a strategy game and your goal is to learn everything about it to gain that additional edge against other players.
1. Optimize for Full RAD Soldiers Squad Points
The squad points in RAD Soldiers is a balancing factor to avoid overpowering of characters or weapons. However, you will have to use it to your advantage. Always get the best weapon and fill up those points. This means that you should never go in with only 2 soldiers in 14 point games. And never leave any point unused for your team and weapon setup.
2. Think and Plan Ahead Your RAD Soldiers Turns
Before you end your playing turns, always think ahead and think about the damage that your enemies can do. If you leave any enemy unit alive, they may be able to kill one of your units before it gets taken out the next round. This makes it extremely important to plan ahead and think about your enemies possible moves. Think about their available energies after getting into position to fire weapons at you.
3. Diversify Your Weapons and Tactics
The best strategy in RAD Soldiers is to prepare yourself for all the attacking situations. This means that you should have back up plans against enemies if they use Melee, mid-range, or long range.
Range: The maximum range at which you can fire your RAD Soldiers weapon.
Optimal Range: The range at which your weapons can deal max damage against enemies. This is shown as the bigger target X during the game screen.
Squad Points: The numbers of squad points that the weapon will cost to be equipped into the battle.
Damage: The damage output of a weapon against enemy RAD Soldier.
Cost to Use: The energy use for each shot of weapon.
Weapon Type:
Knock Back: Will push back enemies upon hit.
About Range and Optimum Range
Depending on the weapon type, they all have specific optimum ranges where the damage is dealt 100%. Outside of the range you may only deal little damage to not being to fire at all.
Classes and Weapon Uses
Based on the table below, we can conclude that some classes can use certain weapons while others cannot below is a quick run down of these weapon types and their class restrictions:
SMG: Medic and Agents
Sniper Rifle: Agents
Shotgun: Engineers
Heavy: Commando
Pistol and Melee: All classes

4. Take Advantage of Pushbacks
Some RAD Soldiers weapons and skills will push back enemy units. Take advantage of these weapons to “push” or “move” enemy units. Use this tactic to deal more shots from your heavy hitters.
5. Use Rewind and Experiment
Unlike chess, RAD Soldiers actually let you make a turn and you can see if you like it. If you do not like the damage output or the position that you end up in. Always rewind and try to aim for the best position and situation. Correct moves and covers will mean the different in winning or losing in RAD Soldiers.
6. Learn the Maps
RAD Soldiers currently do not have that many maps yet. Take the time to learn where and how you can move your soldiers and take cover in each of the positions. Your goal is to place your characters correctly in their spots to deal damage while taking less fire.
7. Importance of Medic Healing
Medic class is extremely important in RAD Soldiers. Without medic, your team can be worn out quite fast with hit&run tactics. You will need at least one tactic on your team to keep yourself healed up during tough situations. Kate is one of the better medic to use in RAD soldiers because of her gas grenade ability.
8. Light and Melee Weapon Combo
One of the most deadly damage output that you can do in RAD Soldiers is equipping your light class with melee weapons. Light weight class soldiers can move to enemies quite fast with 12 moves. You can then dish out awesome damage with the melee weapons. Your goal is to get close and one shot kill the enemy.
9. Learn the Different Soldier Unique Abilities
Different soldier heroes in RAD Soldiers have their unique abilities. Try to learn all of these abilities and learn what they look like. By knowing and understanding the limits and strengths of these abilities. You will be able to fully maximize your game play strategy. At the same time you can expect your enemies to unleash certain moves without surprise. Again, the best tactic is by learning and thinking ahead of your opponent in RAD Soldiers.
Please note that your new soldiers will come with a default weapons.

10. Smart RAD Soldiers Energy Use

11. Go for the Kill in RAD Soldiers
If possible, you should always kill the enemies before the end of your turn. If you can kill just one single unit without getting one killed yourself, you will gain a huge edge over the next turn. In general, the first clean kill will win the game most of the time.

For some maps that only have 1 tile of access, you can drop items such as the 150 HP block to “block” the enemies. This tactic can give you the edge over the enemy.
