Beginner’s Guide to Outcast Odyssey
If you are new to Outcast Odyssey, this beginner’s guide may help you breaking into the game without spending too much to time study the underlying strategy for the game. The purpose of this beginner’s strategy guide may help you with the right direction.
Please note that this beginner’s guide for Outcast Odyssey assume that you will not be spending real money currency on the gems. If you do have unlimited funds that you can spend on the game, spend them on skill masteries first, then open up card packs for the rare cards.
How to Level Up All of Your Cards, But Focus on Hero and His Gears First
Although Outcast Odyssey requires no use of energy, it does feature a ton of grinding if you want to get your base cards to max level. Be prepared to grind level after level to get all of your cards.
However, at the beginning you should focus on getting your main hero cards with strong attack numbers first. This is because you want to aim for one shot kills during your grinds to avoid losing HP.
You should not invest heavily into enhancement or evolution into any 1 star or 2 star gear cards. Consider just evolve the two star pets and master them early on for the purpose of higher HP pool during earlier levels. Do not aim to perfect evolve the two star cards (maxing pre-evolved form before evolving).
Use your free daily bounty quests to get a few sets of the main gear cards. Spend the time to max level those 3 star gear cards and then evolving them can go a long way.
After your main gears are set. Visit bounty often to look out for pet cards that match the bonuses of your main cards. For example volley go with volley, pierce go with pierce etc.
A great starting combination include the huntress cards farmed from 1-3 plus cannon from 1-4.
Bonus EXP from Enhancing Cards
There are two factors to get a little boost from enhancing your cards. The first method is through card enhancement match, you can gain bonus enhancement exp either match the realm of the cards, or the type of the cards to get the EXP boost.
The second method is through adding points into your character mastery. One of the skill allows you to have extra enhancement exp points which can make your grinding faster.
Max Evolution for the Cards You Use
If you have decided to stick with any particular deck, make sure that you fully enhance the cards before evolving. The additional stats boost from fully enhanced cards make it worthwhile.
Use Your Main Hero Set to Trigger Skill and Spells
In most cases, your fully geared main hero should almost outdamage your pet cards. This means that you should almost always trigger the skill uses with your main hero turn. The damage multiplier is usually counted by the first hit.
In addition, learn about the effects of each of the skills and spells. Sometimes multiple skills can trigger on the board, your goal is to not let them interfere with one another so that you can deal higher overall damage.
Bash: Alternate attack two targets
Blast: Attacks different targets
Pierce: Attacks one target multiple times
Slash: Attack multiple targets along lines.
Spiral: Attacks multiple targets per level in order.
Volley: Attack targets randomly multiple times
Take Advantage of Elemental Realm Boost
The cards are divided into three different realms. Green (Nature) > Red (Magic) > Blue (Technology) > Green (Nature). This patterns plays heavily into the game play and will determine the amount of damage that you can do.
When you set up your deck, you should at leave have 1 of your pet the different realm than your main hero deck. In general, it might be better if both of your pet cards are different realms than your main hero, since your hero will be the one dealing the most damage. The only exception comes in later when your main hero cards have skills that boost the card stats from specific realms, or when you have placed more skill points into realm specific masteries.
Specifically, your starting pet card should be weak against your hero. Since you want your pet cards to deal more damage against the card stack that your hero has trouble attacking.
HP Focused Deck and Death
It can be worthwhile to prepare a deck that focuses on your total HP pool, especially at lower levels. When your character is at higher level this strategy may become less useful because of higher death cool down.
The reason is that although death requires some time for you to come back to life, the HP regenerated while waiting for respawn is still significantly faster compared to just waiting for the tick.
When you know that you will die within the next few enemies, switch your deck into the HP pool deck to get more HP healed after you respawn.
Clear Your Inventory Often
At the time of writing this beginner’s guide, you will get some of the new cards sent to your mail box such as treasure chest or bounty quest winnings. However, for your usual questing, if your inventory is full, those loot cards will be sold automatically.
This can be bad if you are specifically grinding campaign for feeder cards. Check your Outcast Odyssey inventory often to avoid this problem.
Bounty Quest Strategy
Make sure that you take the free daily bounty tickets to obtain 3 star or higher cards. As you improve your decks into full 3 star cards, you will begin to see mixes of high rare cards in the bounty system.
The bounties increase in difficulty as you level up, so if you do not have the decks that suit your level, you will be destroyed at later bounty levels.
At the time of writing this Outcast Odyssey beginner’s guide, bounty quests get taken and refreshed quite often. So visit the bounty quests often for the cards that you may need.
Like the tip mentioned in the previous part of this guide, aim to finish your main hero’s set before working on the pets cards.
Using Your Gems
The best places to spend your gems are your mastery skills. Do not spend your earlier gems on opening treasure chests or open up card packs. Save all of your gems on skills as those skill masteries are permanent.
How to get free gems:
1. Rank the PvP tournaments.
2. Finish bounty quests.
3. Rare rewards from dungeon crawling.
Grind Earlier Dungeons While Waiting on HP
The best part about Outcast Odyssey is that it is not based on “energy” system like most of the other TCG games on the mobile platform. This means that you can always head back to lower ranked dungeons to grind for feeder cards.
Treasure Chest Tips
You can encounter two types of treasure chests during your dungeon runs. Green chests usually contain 1~3 star cards. Blue treasure chests contain 3~5 star cards. If your HP is low, stepping on the green treasure chests is a sure fire way to die fast in the game. However, make sure you always trip the blue chests since that is the best way for you to get the better cards for free.
Social Aspect
You can additional boost by adding friends, you earn “cheers” whenever they are active in the game.
Save Your Potions
You have 5 starting health potions at the beginning of the game. You also gain free 20 potions when you connect your account to Facebook. Save those potions, as you will really need them for the higher level bounties. It can be awesome for you to use those potions when you are short on time to finish a bounty quest.
